Formby Squirrel Sanctuary – Home Of The Red Squirrel Reserve

The Red squirrels can be found at the National Trust’s Formby Squirrel Sanctuary.  A beautiful sunlit-drenched wooded haven for squirrels to be safe in.  This picturesque forest is a must for squirrel – lovers.  I myself, love the red squirrels and our family have enjoyed many fantastic visits to Formby on the Sefton coast north of Liverpool.  We have strolled along the stunning sand dunes and walked through the forest full of picnic benches and facilities.

It is an incredible day out Formby Squirrel Sanctuary and children of all ages will love the incredible scenery and sand dunes.  To see a red squirrel is a treat, as there are fewer of them these days.  Thank heavens for this wonderful place Formby’s National Trust.

The Red squirrel is quite friendly and you can see them and get quite close to them, their red fluffy inquisitive faces and bushy ginger tails are a delight to see.  They have lived at Formby for a long time and enjoy the peaceful tranquillity of the wooded sunlight trees.  The woodland is a great day out and there is usually a national trust warden nearby to answer your questions as well as an ice-cream van to provide the delicious ice-creams and drinks.

You can take your own picnic to the Formby Squirrel Sanctuary and sit down in the spectacular picnic area as the sun streams through the breathtaking beauty of the trees.

Formby Squirrel Sanctuary Great Day Out For All The Family

The Nation Trust Formby Squirrel Sanctuary is highly recommended and well worth a visit for families who enjoy walking and strolling through the stunning sand-dunes and spectacular forest walks with safe pathways throughout.

There are very few places in the world where you can actually see the red squirrels, so it is well worth a visit.  The beauty of the sunlight streaming through the woodland is enchanting and visitors are urgently needed to fund the efforts of the national trust to rebuild the squirrel population which was recently affected by disease.  So to visit the Formby red squirrel reserve and see them forage around for nuts is a sheer delight.  It makes a great family walk and on to the stunning sand dunes which is a safe, clean beach for children to play.  The breathtaking beauty of the place is mesmerizing.  It is an incredible day out for all the family, young and old.

To walk over the sand dunes of Formby beach and enjoy the views of the sea is always a stunning sight.  It really is one of the most attractive places to visit.  You can walk for miles along the beach and enjoy the fresh air and tranquillity of the stunning views.  You can see many dog walkers passing you by as well as families and children at The National Trust Formby Squirrel Reserve.

There are many hotels in the area, so you could make a weekend of it and really have some fun.  To visit the forest full of red squirrels is a fantastic opportunity to see this beautiful endangered species.

It is well worth a visit and highly recommended.  So treat yourself to an incredible day out.  You will fill your lungs with fresh air and come home energised!
